Charles Gillies, Lex McArthur and Teresa Engelhard are the Managing Partners of Jolimont Capital. In addition to a combined total of over 20 years of entrepreneurial, technology, consulting and operational management experience, they have approximately 30 years of experience in the venture capital/private equity industry.

Through our Managing Partners, Jolimont has a substantial network of industry and government contacts in Australia and overseas. We actively deploy these to increase the value of the firms in which we invest.

Charles Gillies - Managing Partner

Charles Gillies is a Managing Partner at Jolimont Capital, which he founded with Lex McArthur in 2003. His focus is working with management teams on financings, restructurings and marketing. Charles has been or is a Director of HumanWare, Plantic, Redfern Polymer Optics, Redfern Integrated Optics and Fitness2Live. Prior to founding Jolimont Capital, Charles was the Investment Manager for ADI, a technology seed investor. He has executive management experience in strategy, marketing and finance.

Charles also has direct experience of start-ups as CEO and founder of an Internet service business in 1999. For 2 years, Charles was a guest lecturer in Strategic Management at Deakin University. He also lectured and was a taskforce member for 5 years in the Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment for the Securities Institute of Australia.

Charles has a Masters of Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School (he was the HJ Heinz Scholar in 1991), is a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and has a Bachelor of Science/Arts from the University of Melbourne.

Lex McArthur - Managing Partner

Lex McArthur is a Managing Partner at Jolimont Capital, which he founded with Charles Gillies in 2003. His strengths are in deal structuring, transaction negotiation and business strategies. Lex works actively in developing growth and exit strategies with each of his investee companies and in guiding and mentoring the CEOs and senior management. He is currently a Director of Park Assist, Space Time Research, Daintree Networks, Redfern Optical Components, and HumanWare.

Prior to founding Jolimont Capital, Lex was CEO of ADI, a technology seed investor whose shareholders included Babcock & Brown and Ernst & Young. Previously, he was CEO of Emerge CMC Ltd, a joint venture between leading IT vendors including Oracle, NEC, Telstra and four major universities to commercialise online and multimedia business applications. Lex's professional experience and contacts span a range of industry sectors including investment, IT and mining. It includes two start-up IT businesses that Lex founded and operated between 1992 and 1996, and two years as Business Development Manager at Melbourne IT in its formative years.

Lex has a B.Eng (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, a Post Grad Dip in Mineral Economics and is a FINSIA Associate.

Teresa Engelhard - Managing Partner

Teresa Engelhard is a Managing Partner at Jolimont Capital, which she joined in 2006 to focus on growth-stage technology companies. Teresa has over ten years of experience in venture capital and executive management positions in the technology industry, mostly in the U.S. Prior to joining Jolimont Capital, her executive positions at technology companies in California included Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Xponent Photonics (acquired by Hoya International), Vice President Software Solutions at ONI Systems (Nasdaq ONIS acquired by Ciena - Nasdaq CIEN) and CEO of Timeshift (acquired by J2 Communications - Nasdaq JCOM).

Teresa was also a Principal at Mohr, Davidow Ventures in Menlo Park, California in the late 90's where she helped lead the firm's investment strategy into communications and photonics technologies. She started her career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in the U.S. where she served clients in the media, retail and energy sectors.

Teresa is currently either a Director or active participant on the Boards of Directors at Daintree Networks, Redfern Integrated Optics, Redfern Optical Components and Redfern Polymer Optics.

Teresa has a B.S. with Honors from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California, U.S.A and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, U.S.A.

Ben Brown - Investment Manager

Ben Brown is an Investment Manager with Jolimont Capital.

Prior to joining Jolimont Ben was a Project Leader with the Boston Consulting Group where he helped clients in the industrial goods, technology and communications, and IT sectors make decisive improvements to their direction and performance. Ben has also held a number of operational roles in companies including GE in the US where he worked on a variety of renewable energy issues within GE's Power Generation business, and Electrocomponents PLC where he was the UK Strategic Marketing Manager.

Ben has a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours (Computer Systems) from the University of Queensland, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Neetha Nambiar - Legal and Admin Manager

Neetha is responsible for the legal and compliance duties and obligations of Jolimont Capital. A legal professional, she has experience in a range of industries including health informatics, developmental communication and information technology. Prior to joining Jolimont Capital Neetha was Compliance Manager of a health software company.

Neetha has a Bachelor of Law (Degree with Honours) from the University of London and a Masters of Business Administration, specialising in International Management, from the University of Western Australia. She is also a non-practising member of the English Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) since 1999.

Carol Sullivan - Finance Manager

Carol is the Finance Manager of Jolimont Capital. Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London since 1988, Carol came to Melbourne on secondment in 1989, becoming an Australian citizen in 1995. After working in Audit, Accounting and Tax Accounting she moved to a Practice Manager position and, before joining Jolimont Capital, was a Practice Manager for both Accounting and Legal Firms.

Carol has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree from the University of Leicester, and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
